Garden Design

An initial phone call and a few photos of your garden are a good way to start our conversation. From there, we can arrange a date and time for a site visit.

Every new project begins with a design consultation. Following the first visit to get a feel for the existing space to gather your initial project brief, I will host a garden design consultation. 

During this session, I will present ideas, including plant and tree recommendations suited to your specific aspect and soil conditions. I will also suggest hard landscaping styles and materials that complement both the architecture and interior of your home. Together, we will discuss how you plan to use the space, your personal preferences, and any structural or orientation restrictions.

Following the visit, a written brief is sent to you, which includes the fee structure and design process.
 

The next step is a topographical survey and site analysis of the site, which captures the layout of the site as well as all levels and utilities. 

Once the design brief has been agreed and signed off,  2D concept design plans are produced. Moodboards are also produced to support the concept. At this stage, the focus is on the garden layout, and we will start to talk about suitable materials and plants rather than specific details.

2D masterplans are produced at this stage. 2D Presentation plan of the garden, additional 2D imagery is presented to give a real sense of space.

Finally, setting out plans and specifications are produced, they enable contractors to produce itemised quotes. 

If required, we will also submit a planning application at this stage.

The next stage is to produce a planting plan which details the placement of plant varieties and specimen trees. A plant schedule which lists plant names, quantities and sizes used for costing, setting out and ordering plants. A moodboard of all the plants is included as well as a garden maintenance plan.

Once the masterplan, setting out plan and specification documents have been finalised, they are sent to contractors so they can provide you with itemised quotes for the garden build. 

I can recommend trusted contractors I have worked with previously, I can also work with contractors recommended to you.

I offer the option for regular site visits to monitor progress of the project - to ensure the garden is built according to the plans.

I typically source plants and oversee the setting out of the plants and planting to make sure the planting keeps to the design. 

I work with trusted contractors and gardeners or I can work with your chosen contractor.

I typically produce a garden maintenance guide so you will know how to look after your garden throughout the year.

Alternatively, I can recommend local gardeners who could manage the garden.
